IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM THE VIRGINIA SBDC:

We’re writing to alert you about a scam targeting small businesses. Fraudulent individuals are using the logos of America’s SBDC and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to trick businesses into giving up sensitive information.

The fraudulent email congratulates the owner on their approval for the Small Business Development Center grant powered by the SBA and then asks them to confirm banking information.

SBDCs do not issue SBA grants. If you receive an offer for a grant claiming to be from your SBDC, it is a scam.

All legitimate SBA grants and loans are communicated directly by the SBA.

Never share personal or financial information in response to unsolicited emails, calls, or texts.

If you have any doubts about the legitimacy of a communication, please contact the SBA directly at 1-800-659-2955 or visit their official website: https://www.sba.gov.

We’re committed to helping you protect your business. Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
