Virtually all organizations have some type of nominal process for strategic planning.   However, few of them attempt to use the process of planning itself as a method for increasing employee engagement in the mission, vision, values and goals of a company or agency.

Blue Ridge Community College President Dr. John Downey will describe how the concept of servant leadership and the metaphor of chaos theory have been employed at BRCC to increase employee commitment to organizational outcomes.

Dr. Downey, became the fifth President of Blue Ridge Community College in Weyers Cave in August of 2009.  Prior to being named President, he served for four years as the Vice President for Instruction and Student Services at the College.  For the past several years, Blue Ridge Community College has consistently been named to the Honor Roll of the Chronicle of Higher Education’s “Great Colleges to Work For” program.
